Hi, I'm new to voicebot, just picked it up on a steam sale. Just wondered if there's a way to print out a profile? I'm mainly interested in having the Macro and Command within the Groups of a profile (the information shown at left on the profile view). Thought this would be an included feature, so maybe I missed it in the help section. But it'd be great to have a list of commands while I get used to a profile for certain game! I'd also use it to jot notes on ideas of adding macros to a profile.

Thanks!

You can open the voicebot profile file in a text editor. You may want to cut out some stuff before printing it out. I use a lot of macro scripts, and since it includes at that info, it made the one I just looked at not the prettiest to look at.

Thanks Bacon Nation.a I'll give that a try. Any idea where the profile files are stored (or the file name format so I can search?). I browsed the local files via Steam, and don't see them. But I've downloaded several (not in my download folder either).

It's not currently possible to print out the command list, but I've added this to our feature request list :)

I think Bacon was referring to exporting a profile from the Settings window and opening it up in Notepad. It's not really in a readable format though.

Keith has properly clarified my comment. I was referring to a profile that I export to keep it backed up. I should have probably included that. And when I said it wasn't very pretty, by that I mean you'd probably have to do a lot of work to get it to a usable state for what you are hoping to do. You might be better off writing it up yourself until they add that feature.

Thanks Keith and Bacon,

Yeah, I tried opening an exported profile, and as you said, it wasn't pretty. :) I appreciate Keith adding the ask to the wishlist of future features. I think i'd be great to print out the command list, and then have space to add notes, tweaks, or other command ideas. Although VoiceBot seems to play pretty will with alt-tabbing from a game, I tend to like to work on paper while in game.

I'm really enjoying VoiceBot BTW, I'll have to learn and dig in deeper so I can get the full benefit of it!

I was looking for the same feature and came upon this thread. I too need a list of commands when I am trying to learn a new profile. Especially if I am downloading one I didn't create. I am posting because I have a little stop-gap measure until this feature is added. I make a screenshot of just the left table with Macro/Command and print it. One full 8.5 x 11 page gives you some room to the right of the commands to add notes. Its not perfect, but its something...

I think we can probably do this with a Macro Script. We'll keep you posted when we have a sample ready :)

Hi! I wrote a script that will read a VoiceBot profile of the user's choosing from the registry, open notepad, and paste the title, command names, and commands into an easily readable list.

Can you let me know if this works for you for the time being?

Thanks! :)

Thank you so much! That did work perfect for me. I modified the code slightly to output it in an easy format to import into Excel and put some titles on the columns. Thanks again!

Sorry about that!

Here's how to use this file in VoiceBot:

  • Download the 'VoiceBot Profile Printer.cs' file
  • Open the VoiceBot Settings window to the 'Profiles' tab, then click the 'Add' button
  • On the Profile Edit window, click the Add button
  • On the Edit Macro window, click the 'Macro script' option from the 'Add' drop down
  • In the window that pops up, replace the code with the code from the file you downloaded in the first step
  • Give your macro a name and a way to interact with it, like a voice command or hotkey, then close the Edit Macro window
  • Give your new profile a name, then close the Profile Edit window
  • Click 'OK' or 'Apply' to save the settings

I hope this works for everyone!

We've got a page setup now that you can use to view and print your profiles. If you go to https://www.voicebot.net/account and scroll to the bottom, you can click a VoiceBot profile and then click the "Mobile/Printer Version" link.

In your explanation I get to: On the Edit Macro window, click the 'Macro script' option from the 'Add' drop down. Where is the "Edit Macro window" I see Macros above a window but no indication of a "Edit Macro window. Could you be a lot clearer on how to do this. you are referring to things I see no indication of their existence. Better yet just include it in the software then there would no need for an explanation and I sure your customers would really appreciate it. It would be a great selling point.

The Edit Macro window is what opens up when you click the "Add" button from the Profile Edit window. I've attached a screenshot for reference.

Also, not sure if you saw my previous post (#14) about viewing and printing the profiles via the website. If you did and those aren't working for you, please let me know.

Thanks!

And yet, it's still not a well organised, tabulated list. Honestly I love VoiceBot, it works so well for me, but as games and programs become more complex a "cheat sheet" style list would be so much better. Failing that, why not change the actual program itself so the left-hand pane can show multiple (or preferably user selectable) columns?
I'm just suggesting, it would be great to see VoiceBot become more than it currently is but sadly it's beginning to feel less than it could be.
Kindest Regards (and admiration, even if I am being over critical),
DocBanzai.

@DocBanzai: No worries, the feedback is always appreciated! What other columns would you like to see in the left pane?

Hi Keith, thanks for getting back to me.
Honestly I've thought about this a fair bit since I posted my comment.
To be fair, my setup is probably different to the majority of users in that I have four screens (three side-by side and one above - all in landscape orientation) so I tend to have games on my main (centre) screen and helpers/browsers/whatever on the other screens. Now, obviously, I'm quite spoiled with screen real estate but here's the crux of the problem:
I keep VoiceBot open of my (usually) left-hand screen to provide a list of the commands available but, because all my screens are in landscape format, only a relatively small number of commands are viewable. When playing (actually I use VoiceBot in a lot of other less trivial programs as well) it can be impossible to scroll the list up/down during play, mainly when playing 'full screen'.
In an ideal world the left-hand pane of VoiceBot would have the option to display an identical pane next to it with a continuation of the command list e.g. say you have a profile with 80 commands and currently the left-hand pane displays the first forty (the rest of which would require scrolling down through the list). It would be great to be able to have a duplicate pane next to it with the remaining commands (forty one to eighty).
I apologise for not being able to explain it more clearly and I hope I haven't just caused confusion!
Also, having read through my comment again, I think saying "user selectable columns" is redundant. All you really need to see is what you need to say. Not the commands, not the macro name, just literally what needs to be said.
If this were do-able I think it would also completely solve the printable 'cheat sheet' problem at the same time. The current system DOES work, I can't argue with that (I'll probably try though lol), but the printed list would still be multiple pages, printed portrait, wereas a nice single sheet would be just perfect.
I understand, completely, that a profile with a zillion commands just won't fit into a single screen/sheet of A4 but for a profile with a reasonable 40-80 commands it would be a real boon to have an at-a-glance reference.
Again, this is all given in the spirit of appreciation and admiration. I genuinely wish I had to ability to create software as useful as this. Alas I can't so I have to resort to nagging the poor devs!
All the best, DocBanzai.
P.S. How about making the column headers (Macro, Command, Speech, whatever) snap off? Hold on, I think I can hear screaming....

Ah ok, I see what you mean! I'm not sure if it would be possible to automatically flow the commands into additional columns with that listview control, but maybe we could have a toolbar button that opens the commands list in a new window that can flow into additional columns for wide displays.

I've added this to our feature request list, and we'll be sure to let you know if/when we're able to implement it.

Thanks!

Hi Keith, Wow quick reply thanks!
I think it would be a genuinely useful feature (well, for me at least) so I thank you for considering it.
Even if it's not possible I'll still be using VoiceBot, I have some disabilties and it's the first and only voice control program that works 99% of the time. The only drawback being that I'm getting on in years and my memory isn't what it used to be, hence the wish for the abilty to have a reminder of all the stuff I've set up before.
Piece of advice to you; Don't get old haha.
Thanks again, Matt.

None of these options, your web page, the script or VoiceBot itself is helping get a list of commands, the speech used and the command that it performs, whether that is a keystroke, timer or macro script. I really need a way to break down what the commands do so I can tweak what they do. And document what they do.
