  • Open a Run prompt (Win + R) and enter: 
    control mmsys.cpl sounds
  • In the "Sound" control panel that opens, click the Recording tab
  • Click the microphone that you use, then click the Properties button
  • Click the Levels tab and increase the slider all the way to the right
